Open contracting in
From open data to digitization to sustainability
Open contracting has made great strides in Europe. The continent is leading in the green transition, and open contracting showed it can help. Starting October, EU member states will have to start sending data on all of their public procurement to the EU using a common, standardized format – eForms. If done well, this can provide the basis for a powerful digitally-driven procurement data architecture that enables competition, efficiency, public oversight, and stimulates innovation.
The Open Spending EU Coalition with around a dozen EU open government champions is growing as a leading voice promoting transparency of EU- and national government spending and beneficial ownership information, including the implementation and disbursement of funds through the Recovery and Resilience Facility.
