Launch of a new tool to improve medicine procurement in Brazil

Organisation: Transparência Brasil. Location: Virtual, 10:30am Brazil time

Together with Transparência Brasil, we are hosting the launch of a new tool to strengthen the medicine procurement in Brazil. The new platform will facilitate the work of public officials by supporting data- and evidence-based decisions that will improve the efficiency and transparency in medicine procurement.

The webinar will feature Flávia Schmidt (Director of Open Government and Transparency at CGU), Roberto Pojo (Secretary of Management and Innovation at MGI) and Ana Luiza Hirle (Undersecretary of Purchasing for Minas Gerais).

The platform brings together thousands of data points on public medicine purchases available on the National Public Procurement Portal (PNCP). Thus, it allows managers and civil servants to conduct a comprehensive survey of prices practiced throughout the country and have better budget estimates for drug purchases. The tool allows the user to create their own personalized price basket, based on the selection of the items they intend to bid on.

The project has been supported as part of our Lift impact accelerator program, led by the team at Transparência Brasil in partnership with the Comptroller General’s Office (CGU) and the Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services (MGI).
