Community Call: How governments spend public money to tackle the coronavirus pandemic?

Organisation: Civil Society Initiative under University of Central Asia, Open Contracting Partnership, Eurasia Foundation, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. Location: On-line

Fast and efficient procurement of vitally needed goods and services are essential to tackle the coronavirus pandemic. In most of the countries such contracts have been excluded from the general regulations, allowing institutions to apply emergency procedures and pay upfront for up to 100%.

With a “hunger games”-scenario on a global market, the risk of fraud and corruption is huge. Civic control of transparency, accountability, and integrity of governmental spending is crucial.

During this two-hour session we will discuss how civil society can help to make COVID-19 tenders open, fast and efficient. We will hear from Moldova, Ukraine, Kyrgyz Republic, Kazakhstan, Mongolia and other countries.

The event will be lead in Russian.
