2023 KOPPEX International Public Procurement Workshop

Organisation: Public Procurement Service of Korea. Location: Goyang City, South Korea

The Public Procurement Service of the Republic of Korea (PPS Korea) together with Open Contracting Partnership will host the 2023 International Public Procurement Workshop: Exploring Ways Forward in Public Procurement at the 2023 Korea Public Procurement Expo (KOPPEX), South Korea’s largest public procurement exhibition.

Governments need new strategies to mitigate the impacts of climate change and implement sustainable procurement strategies, from achieving net zero carbon emissions, reducing deforestation, to promoting greener, environmentally-and socially- responsible supply chains. Governments will need to source and buy things in a fundamentally different way to meet these objectives. Done better, procurement can be one of the most important drivers in our global effort to make the world fairer and greener.

We will deliver insights and expertise on public procurement and explore ways forward in public procurement and discuss how to strategically approach public procurement with social and environmental values. We will provide concrete, innovative examples and data-driven strategies that provide a starting point to address the complex and multifaceted challenges such as mitigating the impacts of floods and managing environmental impacts of large-scale infrastructure projects.

The two-day workshop will include discussions on Public Procurement in Supply Chain Restructuring, Response to Polycrisis through Public Procurement, Sustainable Procurement Tackling Climate ChangeDelivering better outcome for people, planet, and prosperity, and Procurement policies and trends at regional and national levels.
