Skoll World Forum: Building inclusive and sustainable economies through better procurement

Organisation: . Location: Webinar

When governments spend with purpose, people’s lives improve. This session brings together social innovators who are using procurement data and civic engagement to deliver accessible, high-quality public services—especially within marginalized communities.

Mexico City Ecobici is improving the largest bike share system in Latin America through data-driven contracting and co-design. Buenos Aires is working with a local non-profit to better service informal settlements using data on infrastructure procurement. Each of these cities will share how they built coalitions to help shift the status quo of government, and create more inclusive and sustainable economies.

The session is organized by the Open Contracting Partnership, the Beeck Center for Social Impact & Innovation, John’s Hopkins Centers for Civic Impact, and Aspen Digital. Together, we will discuss how local governments can use data and collaboration to bridge sectors and solutions that deliver value for people and the planet.
